Thank you for joining The Love Jump!

I’m writing this two nights before the blog goes live and I’m scared out of my mind and excited all at once!

The Love Jump will be an exciting adventure and I’m glad to have you with me! No fun talking to yourself right?!

As I’m writing this, I’m listening to one of my favorites, Rob Hill Sr. speak about vulnerability.

If you haven’t heard of him, you should definitely check him out. His honesty is such a comfort to me.

“There is a vulnerability that comes with being a writer and when you write the way I write, you have to give parts of yourself that most people get to hide…you have to show a certain level of vulnerability that isn’t always comfortable.” – Rob Hill Sr.

So here goes nothing and everything at once! Won’t you jump with me?

One of the best parts of my job is that I get to travel all over the U.S. I fly to Las Vegas at least a few times a year spending hours on trade show floors and meeting with journalists.

This time I traveled with The Love Jump in mind. Goal #1: secure at least a dozen media meetings for my client’s new app launch. Goal #2 secure at least one date before I returned home to Reno.

After a long and quite successful work day, I headed to the swanky hotel bar, downed the cliche blood orange cosmopolitan and pulled up Tinder. If you haven’t checked out Tinder yet, it’s kind of known as a “hookup” app. But I’m not a “hookup” kind of girl; I was looking to get swept off my feet.

If you haven’t yet, you should check out the February 2014 issue of Ebony Magazine. It’s the Celebrate Black Love! issue and the covers feature Nick & Mariah, Melo & LaLa and David & Tamela. It’s always inspiring to see celebrity couples in love instead of the usual break-up stories. In honor of Black History Month, here are a few fun, vintage black love pics.
Enjoy!

In Vegas, anything can happen and the scene was set: a pair of extra large twins (6’5 to be exact) sat at the bar becoming bookends to their tattooed little person friend nudged in between.

My friend and I washed down our burgers with Baileys mixed with Oreos and Tiramisu milkshakes. I had just briefed her on the #lovejump and my attempt to let love find me, so she was primed for the wing-woman seat.

Since rule number 1 of the #lovejump is being open to guys I normally wouldn’t date or typically find attractive, I began to scan the room for potential mates— not leaving anyone out.

I plan to share inspiring quotes and thoughts on love throughout the blog, some cheesy, some funny but all swoon-worthy. Below is one of the more romantic quotes I’ve read. It’s from the movie Shall We Dance. Last Christmas Eve, My Pastors celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and dedicated it to one another. I just die every time I read it. I hope you love it!
We need a witness to our lives. There’s a billion people on the planet… I mean, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you’re promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things… all of it, all of the time, every day. You’re saying ‘Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed because I will be your witness.
